    Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience in Computer Science, GIS, Data Science, AI, Engineering or a related discipline
    • Relevant industry certifications or credentials (e.g. Microsoft Azure, GISP, or equivalent)
    • Experience leading or coordinating a small technical team, squad or project-based group, including mentoring others across AI/ML, analytics, data and geospatial disciplines
    • Ability to support specialists with prioritisation, problem-solving and quality assurance
    • Collaborative leadership style that builds trust across technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Practitioner-level capability across geospatial platforms (Esri) and the Microsoft data and AI stack (Azure, Power BI, Fabric, AI Foundry), with the ability to see where the two combine to create client value
    • Strong capability in application analysis, design, development and deployment using SQL or Spark SQL, Python or PySpark, GIS tools and data visualisation techniques
    • Confidence and credibility in client-facing technical conversations, with the ability to translate technical capability into client value without owning the commercial relationship
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams, including priorities, schedules, risks, issues, reporting and proposal contributions
    • Exposure to consulting, environment, natural resources, infrastructure or engineering project environments, with the ability to work effectively through internal partnerships and cross-functional teams
    Responsibilities
    • Lead and coach a small specialist team across data, AI, location intelligence, GIS and geospatial disciplines to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes
    • Balance hands-on technical delivery with leadership accountability, including prioritisation, delegation, quality review and stakeholder engagement
    • Mentor and grow the team’s capability across geospatial and Microsoft Azure data and AI tooling, fostering a collaborative, accountable team environment that supports continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and strong delivery standards
    • Contribute to the design and delivery of complex data, AI/ML, analytics and location intelligence initiatives using platforms such as Esri, Azure, Fabric, AI Foundry, and Power BI, drawing on broader GHD expertise where deeper specialisation is needed
    • Promote responsible AI, data governance and secure solution patterns to support safe, scalable and efficient project execution
    • Partner with internal project teams across environment, natural resources, infrastructure and digital advisory contexts to translate complex technical challenges into practical, scalable solutions
    • Partner with GHD’s domain experts, project teams and pursuit leads to bring data, AI and location intelligence into client conversations, helping weave spatial science, advanced analytics and big data capability into the work we’re winning
