A high-growth Scale up Fin-tech technology business is looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to join their Sydney engineering team.
This is a genuine engineering leadership role for someone who still enjoys building. You’ll remain close to the code while mentoring engineers, driving delivery standards, and helping shape the next phase of a modern cloud-native environment operating at significant scale.
The business is scaling rapidly and investing heavily in modern engineering practices, AI adoption and platform capability.
What you’ll be doing

• Leading and mentoring engineers across backend and cloud initiatives
• Remaining highly hands-on across coding, architecture and delivery
• Building scalable APIs and cloud-native services
• Driving engineering quality, CI/CD and development best practices
• Partnering closely with product and leadership teams
• Supporting AI-assisted engineering workflows across the team

• AWS SERVICES
• Python & SQL
• REST APIs
• Docker & CI/CD

What they’re looking for

• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
• Strong hands-on backend/cloud engineering capability
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience building production systems at scale
• Comfortable in fast-moving, high-ownership environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
