About this opportunity:
- Leverage your strong understanding of financial and business processes to deliver practical improvements and better outcomes for the organisation.
- Support key financial projects and end-of-year activities, maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance and governance.
- Lead complex and detailed financial investigations and reviews, providing clear findings and recommendations when requested.
- Coordinate the annual audit of Councilās accounts (with support from the Financial Accounting Coordinator) and respond to internal and external audit queries, including the Queensland Audit Office as required.
- Interpret and analyse financial data to provide specialist advice and recommendations in line with relevant legislation and Accounting Standards.
- Work side-by-side with stakeholders including the Sustainability, Corporate Travel, Procurement and other corporate teams to streamline processes, strengthen controls and support great service delivery.
- Thrive in a genuinely collaborative environment building trusted relationships, sharing insights and influencing best-practice financial outcomes across the business.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor qualification in Finance (or related discipline) ā essential.
- CA or CPA qualification ā desirable.
- 3ā5 yearsā experience in financial accounting, audit coordination and/or complex financial analysis.
- Proactive and highly detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve complex matters.
- Collaborative communicator who can build effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated capability to identify improvement opportunities and support change across financial and business processes.
