Our client is one of South Australia’s fastest-growing fintech lenders as a Mobile Front-End Developer (Android Kotlin) at Handy Finance. Handy Finance is a modern consumer finance company that makes borrowing simple by providing fast, transparent personal and asset finance solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining native Android applications that deliver secure, intuitive, and engaging customer experiences. Working closely with architects, backend developers, and business stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our mobile technology platform and customer engagement strategy.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for developing and enhancing our native Android applications while ensuring security, performance, scalability, and exceptional user experiences. Working collaboratively across technology and business teams, you will:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance native Android applications using Kotlin
• Implement new Wallet functionality and customer-facing mobile features
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable application components
• Integrate mobile applications with REST APIs and backend microservices
• Implement secure authentication features, including OAuth2, JWT, MFA, and biometric authentication
• Develop resilient mobile experiences through caching, offline capabilities, retries, and error handling
• Ensure secure storage and management of customer data and authentication tokens
• Follow mobile security best practices and OWASP Mobile Security standards
• Develop and maintain automated testing, including unit and UI testing
• Support Bitrise CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, and Google Play Store releases
• Collaborate with architects, designers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality mobile solutions
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on mobile development, security, and performance

What you’ll bring

• Strong commercial experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin
• Experience with Android SDK and Jetpack Components
• Strong understanding of MVVM architecture and modern Android development practices
• Experience with Coroutines and Flow
• Experience integrating REST APIs and backend services
• Experience using Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications through the Google Play Store
• Strong understanding of mobile security principles and secure application development
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, Firebase, and push notification services will be highly regarded
• Experience within fintech, banking, or other regulated industries will be highly regarded
• Knowledge of mobile application security frameworks and OWASP Mobile Security best practices will be highly regarded
