JOB DETAILS
Strategy & Insight
• Shape the design direction for your product area, ensuring it aligns with product strategy, platform consistency and OFC’s overall experience vision.
• Develop a strong understanding of the mobility, fuel retail and payments domain — including partner integrations, compliance considerations and multi-market constraints — and use that knowledge to inform design decisions proactively.
• Contribute a design perspective into roadmap and prioritisation discussions, helping product and engineering leadership understand the experience implications of strategic choices.
Discovery & Delivery
• Lead user research and usability testing within your product area — conducting interviews, running tests, synthesising findings and translating insights into actionable design direction.
• Define interaction patterns and design solutions for complex flows, including onboarding, payment authorisation, fleet administration, merchant operations and customer support journeys.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, interaction flows and high-fidelity UI designs in Figma, partnering closely with product managers and engineers to ensure feasibility and delivery fidelity.
• Own and evolve significant portions of OFC’s design system, ensuring it scales across our consumer apps, merchant portals and fleet tools while maintaining consistency and accessibility.
• Apply AI-augmented design tooling with sound judgement — including knowing where it speeds up exploration and where uncritical use risks shallow research, generic patterns or missed accessibility considerations.
Launch & Growth
• Partner with product managers and the broader product team to ensure launched experiences meet user expectations and deliver against commercial objectives.
• Use qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate the effectiveness of shipped designs, identifying opportunities for iteration and improvement.
• Champion accessibility and inclusive design principles, ensuring OFC’s products meet WCAG standards and serve our genuinely diverse customer base — from fleet drivers to consumer app users to merchant operators.
Craft & Leadership
• Mentor product designers, providing guidance on craft, process and professional development.
• Contribute to the design team’s ways of working — including critique processes, design sprints, documentation standards and design system governance.
• Present design work to senior stakeholders, partners and customers, articulating strategic design thinking and building confidence in the design function.
• Lead by example on design rigour, setting the standard for research-informed, well-crafted, production-ready design.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
• Strong product design capability across the full lifecycle — research, interaction design, visual design, prototyping and delivery — with a portfolio that demonstrates design leadership on complex, multi-faceted product areas.
• A genuine systems thinker — comfortable working across multiple connected product surfaces (consumer app, merchant portal, fleet tools) and the design system that holds them together.
• A strong point of view on accessibility, inclusive design and designing for trust in regulated or high-stakes environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present design thinking clearly to product, engineering, executive and partner audiences.
• A genuine ownership mindset — you take responsibility for the experiences you ship, you care about the customer on the other end, and you don’t ship problems forward.
• 5 to 8 years of product design experience, with a meaningful portion in B2B SaaS, fintech, payments, mobility, retail technology or financial services.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership on complex product areas — from research through to delivered product.
• Demonstrated experience conducting and leading user research, with the ability to synthesise findings into clear design direction.
• Demonstrated mentoring experience, with a genuine investment in developing other designers.
• Practical experience with AI-augmented design tooling, with a disciplined approach to evaluating where it adds genuine value to research, exploration and production design — and where human judgement remains essential.
• Understanding of payments, mobility or financial services domain constraints (e.g. PCI considerations, KYC flows, scheme rules, fleet card mechanics) is highly desirable.
• Expert-level proficiency in Figma, with deep experience in design systems, component libraries, prototyping and collaborative design workflows.
• Strong interaction design, information architecture and accessibility standards (WCAG) capability, applied within complex, multi-surface product environments.
• User research and usability testing — planning, facilitation, synthesis and translation into design direction.
• Design system thinking — owning, evolving and governing scalable systems across multiple products and platforms.
• Excellent storytelling and presentation skills, both to internal stakeholders and external customers, partners and merchants.
• AI-augmented design tooling used responsibly — including critical evaluation of generated patterns, accessibility considerations and the appropriate role of AI in research and exploration.
