    JOB  DETAILS

    About the role

You will own our client’s compliance framework. You will make sure we meet our obligations under Australian consumer credit law, and can show it to ASIC, AUSTRAC, AFCA and auditors at any time.

    What you’ll do

    • Own the compliance framework: compliance plan, obligations register, risk register and compliance calendar.
    • Write, maintain and roll out compliance policies: responsible lending, internal dispute resolution, hardship, collections, privacy and credit reporting, AML/CTF, breach reporting, and design and distribution (TMD).
    • Make sure customer disclosures (credit guide, pre-contractual statements, privacy notices, website disclosures) are accurate, compliant and issued at the right time.
    • Run regulatory reporting: ASIC breach reports, IDR data reporting, the annual compliance certificate, AUSTRAC reporting and other licence conditions.
    • Monitor and test compliance: file reviews, responsible lending checks, communication reviews and oversight of outsourced functions.
    • Record, investigate and remediate incidents and breaches, including root cause and customer remediation.
    • Train staff on compliance obligations and keep training records.
    • Act as the main contact for regulators and external compliance auditors.
    • Use AI tools to streamline routine compliance work (obligations tracking, monitoring and testing, breach logging, regulatory reporting), freeing time for judgement and advice.

    What you’ll bring

    • 5+ years in compliance or risk roles at an Australian credit licensee, lender, bank or fintech.
    • Strong working knowledge of the NCCP Act and National Credit Code, ASIC RG 209 (responsible lending), RG 271 (IDR), RG 78 (breach reporting), RG 274 (design and distribution), the Privacy Act 1988, the Credit Reporting Code and the AML/CTF Act.
    • Experience building policies and a compliance monitoring program from the ground up.
    • Experience dealing directly with ASIC, AUSTRAC or AFCA.
    • Clear writer: you turn regulation into practical procedures for operations staff.
    • Degree in law, commerce or a related field.
    • Curious about technology: you use AI tools day to day and enjoy improving how work gets done.

    Nice to have

    • A compliance qualification (e.g. Governance Institute, ACAMS or similar).
    • Experience with small-amount or short-term credit.
    • Experience in a business at an early stage of its regulatory build-out.
