As our Director of Compliance & Risk, you will be the internal authority on compliance across regulatory, data protection, cybersecurity, and operational frameworks. You’ll play a pivotal leadership role in uplifting all things compliance and will collaborate closely with all of our teams, from Client Engagement to Technology, and work hand-in-hand with senior leadership to build scalable, secure and responsible operations that match our growth and ambition.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Regulatory & Legal Compliance: Build, scale and maintain a holistic compliance framework aligned with ASIC, NZ CCCFA and other legislative compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Act as primary liaison with external counsel, regulatory contacts and independent auditors to manage reviews, inquiries and remediation plans.
    • Design and operationalise product-level compliance and lending conduct policies (covering credit assessment, privacy and related customer protections).
    • Data & Security Governance: Oversee internal practices related to data security, retention and disposal, and drive continuous improvement in cyber safety measures.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to embed robust compliance practices into operational workflows and client journeys.
    • Develop and deliver organisation-wide compliance training, maintain and report on risk registers, own incident response processes.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, contributing to strategic decisions involving new products, partnerships and jurisdictions.
    • Help foster a culture of risk-awareness, accountability, transparency and compliance across all levels of the organisation.

    About You

You are a seasoned compliance professional with strong expertise in credit compliance, AML/CTF, privacy and complaint management.

This is a full-time contract position, with the opportunity to extend.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

    • 8+ years’ experience in compliance, legal, risk, or operational roles within consumer credit, financial services, fintech or lending businesses.
    • Strong working knowledge of the NCCP Act, Australian Credit Licence obligations, and the Privacy Act.
    • Experience leading or supporting ISO 27001 certification processes (or equivalent infosec compliance frameworks).
    • A strong understanding of cybersecurity, data retention, and secure identity verification practices in a digital environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, user-friendly processes.
    • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment, and bringing others along with you.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across teams and levels of seniority.
