    • Ability to develop market forecasts, analytical models, and decision-support tools that translate complex market data into actionable commercial insights.
    • Significant experience in energy market analysis, market modelling, trading analytics, portfolio analysis, or a related role within a generator, retailer, trader, market participant, or large energy user.
    • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in energy markets, economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, data science, or a related discipline.
    • Deep practical understanding of the National Electricity Market, including market dynamics, pricing drivers, and interpretation of complex market datasets.
    • Experience using analytical and reporting tools, advanced Microsoft Excel, Structured Query Language, Python, Power BI, or similar tools for analysing and modelling large market and interval datasets.
    Responsibilities
    • Lead the development of Rio Tinto’s in-house energy market analytics capability, including forecasting, market intelligence, reporting, and decision-support tools.
    • Deliver electricity price forecasts, scenario analysis, portfolio modelling, and commercial insights to support trading, contracting, and operational decisions.
    • Analyse market trends, risks, and opportunities across electricity and environmental product markets.
    • Develop and maintain analytical models, datasets, and forecasting methodologies that improve portfolio performance and support strategic decision-making.
    • Partner with Trading, Risk, Finance, Treasury, and Technology teams to provide actionable market intelligence and commercial recommendations.
    • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and innovation across forecasting, analytics, and market intelligence capabilities.
    Desired Qualifications
    • Experience developing electricity market forecasts, scenario analysis, or quantitative models that support commercial or trading decisions.
    • Exposure to electricity derivatives, power purchase agreements, environmental products, or broader energy trading activities.
    • Experience designing, implementing, or materially improving analytics platforms, forecasting processes, data pipelines, or decision-support tools.
    • Ability to communicate complex market outcomes and modelling assumptions to technical, commercial, and senior stakeholders.
