Requirements
- Proven commercial experience writing and shipping production code in Python, C++, or Java.
- Strong understanding of networking, computer internals, and Linux systems.
- Ability to use statistics and data analysis to test hypotheses at scale rather than relying only on qualitative or manual investigation.
- Experience with system-level optimization or low-level network optimization, ideally applied to live or external systems rather than static binaries.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, optimize, and tune systems’ interaction with exchange systems across the trading stack.
- Use black-box reverse engineering and analysis to understand complex live systems such as exchange connectivity and market data feeds without source-code access.
- Design and run statistical experiments against real data to explain emergent phenomena and identify performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
- Design, implement, and build working prototypes to test ideas and technologies quickly.
- Collaborate with traders, software and hardware engineers, and infrastructure teams to share insights and implement solutions.
- Analyze terabytes of network data using statistical methods to identify patterns, validate hypotheses, and quantify performance improvements.
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to low-latency hardware technologies such as Intel CPUs, FPGAs, or microwave links.
