JOB DETAILS
The role
You’ll own the quality of the web experiences our customers and clients use to manage their money. You’ll ship features end to end with product, design and backend engineers, set the technical direction for our frontend, and make the engineers around you better.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship React and TypeScript features from design to production, and own how they perform once they’re live.
- Make the calls on frontend architecture (state management, data fetching, component structure, build tooling) and write them down so the team can challenge them.
- Hold the bar on accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and Core Web Vitals, treating both as release criteria rather than afterthoughts.
- Mentor engineers through code review, pairing and design discussions.
- Work with product and design early, so feasibility questions and edge cases come up before a ticket is written.
- Find the tech debt that’s slowing the team down, pay it off, and make the case for it in terms the business understands.
- Use AI coding assistants where they speed things up, and help the team work out where they don’t.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years building production web apps, including recent senior-level ownership of a React and TypeScript codebase.
- Strong modern JavaScript, HTML and CSS, with experience building responsive, accessible components.
- Experience with client and server state tools such as Redux Toolkit, Zustand or TanStack Query.
- Comfort with modern build tooling like Vite or Webpack.
- A testing habit: component tests with Jest or Vitest and React Testing Library, end-to-end tests with Playwright or Cypress.
- Experience deploying to AWS through CI/CD pipelines, plus working knowledge of Git and Docker.
- REST and GraphQL integration, and a solid grasp of web security and authentication (OAuth/OIDC, token handling, OWASP basics).
- Performance work you can point to, measured with Lighthouse, Web Vitals or real-user monitoring.
- Clear written communication and a track record of mentoring other engineers.
A Computer Science degree is welcome but not required. If you’ve done the work, we want to hear from you.
Nice to have
- Next.js, Remix or another React framework
- Node.js on the server
- Design systems and Storybook
- Observability tools such as Datadog or Sentry
- Experience in fintech, lending or other regulated financial services
- Open source contributions or a public portfolio
