About the Role

This opportunity is well suited to an accountant with 1–2 years of Australian public practice experience who is eager to expand their technical knowledge, work closely with key clients, and take the next step in their career within a people-focused firm. Working as part of a collaborative team, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing around 17 individual tax returns per week while delivering outstanding client service and practical tax advice.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and lodging individual tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Conducting discovery calls with prospective personal tax return clients.
• Advising clients on property-related taxation matters, including:
• Principal Place of Residence (PPR) rules
• Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
• Interest deductibility strategies
• Providing compliant, practical tax advice that delivers the best possible outcome for clients.
• Building strong client relationships through professional communication and trusted advice.
• Collaborating with the wider team to maintain a high standard of client service.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm.
• Experience preparing Australian individual income tax returns.
• A solid understanding of Australian taxation legislation.
• Exposure to property taxation, including CGT and interest deductibility, or a genuine willingness to further develop in these areas.

• Confidence engaging directly with clients and explaining tax concepts in a practical, easy-to-understand manner.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
• A proactive approach and a genuine passion for helping clients achieve the best outcomes.
