The role

We are looking for a hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to help build quality into everything we ship.

This is not a purely administrative role. You will work closely with product managers, designers and engineers to test new features, uncover edge cases, improve release confidence and create scalable quality practices as 8seats grows.

You will own the testing function across our mobile, web and desktop products, helping ensure our customers have a reliable, polished and consistent experience across every platform.

What you will do

• Own and improve the end-to-end quality assurance process across iOS, Android, web and desktop products.
• Create clear test plans, test cases and release checklists for new features and major product updates.
• Perform hands-on functional, regression, exploratory, integration and cross-platform testing.
• Identify, reproduce and clearly document defects, including steps to reproduce, expected behaviour and impact.
• Work closely with engineers to triage issues, validate fixes and prevent regressions.
• Help define and maintain automated testing coverage in partnership with the engineering team.
• Test real-time messaging, notifications, offline behaviour, syncing, permissions, onboarding and other high-impact user journeys.
• Improve release processes and quality gates so the team can move quickly without compromising reliability.
• Analyse recurring bugs and customer-reported issues to identify underlying patterns and improvement opportunities.
• Help establish a quality-focused culture where testing is a shared responsibility across the product and engineering teams.
• Build and mentor the QA capability as the company grows.

What we are looking for

• Experience in software quality assurance, testing or test engineering, ideally across mobile and web products.
• Strong hands-on experience testing iOS, Android and browser-based applications.
• A systematic, curious mindset with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to think beyond documented requirements and uncover edge cases that affect real users.
• Experience writing clear bug reports, test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with issue-tracking and product tools such as Jira, Linear, Notion or similar.
• Experience working in agile product and engineering environments.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working closely with technical and non-technical teammates.
• Comfort operating in a startup environment where priorities move quickly and everyone takes ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience testing real-time communication, messaging, collaboration or social products.
• Experience with automated testing tools for React Native, web or desktop applications.
• Familiarity with API testing, observability tools, logs and debugging network-related issues.
• Experience testing offline-first products, synchronisation, push notifications or multi-device workflows.
• Experience setting up QA processes or building a testing function in an early-stage company.
• Experience working with customer support or product teams to investigate production issues.
