JOB SUMMARY
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Functional Consultant, Finance Systems Analyst, or similar role in a software, enterprise resource planning, software-as-a-service, or complex enterprise environment.
- Hands-on accounting or finance experience gained through a finance team, accounting role, finance systems role, enterprise resource planning implementation role, or financial software product environment.
- Strong understanding of general ledger, subledgers, journals, accruals, goods and services tax, tax, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payments, receipting, financial reporting, audit trails, and period-based processing.
- Ability to understand how financial transactions are created, posted, reversed, allocated, reported, and audited within an enterprise resource planning system.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, concise documentation for business and technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including working through complex scenarios, identifying edge cases, and defining expected system behaviour.
- Experience working with software delivery teams in an Agile environment.
- Ability to collaborate with product managers, engineers, testers, designers, implementation consultants, support teams, and customer stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation skills, including leading workshops and guiding stakeholders toward clear decisions.
- Good data literacy, including understanding how business data is structured, linked, validated, and reported.
- Commercial awareness and focus on delivering customer value while managing risk and complexity.
- Confidence using artificial intelligence tools to improve the speed, quality, and completeness of analysis and documentation.
- Accounting knowledge and systems accounting expertise are essential for the Financials product functionality.
Responsibilities
- Analyse complex financial and accounting processes and translate them into product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and supporting documentation.
- Work with product managers and product leads to shape the Financials roadmap and backlog, ensuring work is understood, prioritised, and aligned to customer and business value.
- Partner with engineering, quality assurance, user experience, and technical leads to design practical, scalable, testable solutions aligned to accounting and compliance requirements.
- Act as a bridge between finance users, product stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure the software reflects how finance teams work.
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and analysis discussions with internal stakeholders, customers, and implementation teams.
- Break down large, complex, or poorly defined problems into meaningful, deliverable pieces of work.
- Identify financial, compliance, audit, data integrity, and reporting risks and help shape appropriate product responses.
- Support quality assurance by defining scenarios, edge cases, expected outcomes, and acceptance criteria for financially sensitive functionality.
- Use artificial intelligence tools for research, analysis, documentation, scenario generation, and requirements review.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as an accountant or finance professional who moved into systems, product, or technology delivery.
- Experience as an implementation consultant for financial software.
- Experience as a finance systems analyst, enterprise resource planning functional consultant, product analyst in a finance or accounting domain, or senior business analyst on finance or enterprise resource planning projects.
