    Key Accountabilities:

      • Meets daily with systems integration engineering team to escalate roadblocks in order to have the barriers removed.
      • Develop electrical power generation and power distribution systems for marine and vehicle applications.
      • Integrate Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber and Intelligence (C5i) systems into marine and vehicle applications.
      • Create and review wiring routing tables with passthrough information, termination identification, wire type, connector part numbers and label descriptions.
      • Produce electrical plant load analysis along with wire sizing and component protection in accordance with classification society and/or ADR standards.
      • Establish functional and acceptance test plans for system designs.
      • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract.
      • Partner with the Hull and Structure team to monitor and control the weight of systems to meet design targets.
      • Primary point of contact with key suppliers to integrate design scope into programs, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to receive inputs for design activities.
      • Develop engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensuring safe and fit-for-purpose engineering outcomes, and present material associated with life-cycle reviews.
      • Review and check 3D models and associated 2D drawings/schematics in accordance with company, industry, and project standards, developing drawings and models as required.
      • Create engineering reports to demonstrate compliance with project requirements based on design, testing, analysis, and similarity assessments.
      • Partner with Quality to troubleshoot installation issues, determine root causes, and recommend solutions.
      • Review peers’ work for compliance with engineering standards.
      • Gain exposure to leading small teams.
      • Promote a collaborative environment and provide visible mentorship within the team, setting the standard for others to follow.

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    Essential

    • 10+ Years proven experience in an engineering role and considered expert within the defence or maritime industry, with a focus on shipbuilding or automotive projects.
    • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices governing naval vessel / automotive design and construction. Experience in defence contracting, understanding of military and government project documentation standards
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentor abilities, with a track record of effectively engaging stakeholders and guiding multidisciplinary teams
    • Familiarity with design software and simulation tools commonly used in shipbuilding environments.
    • Proactive manner demonstrating strong commercial aptitude and interpersonal skills
    • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, identify work priorities in a constantly changing environment.
    • Relevant Tertiary qualifications at degree level.

    Desirable

    • Professional certifications or memberships in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Chartered Engineer status)
    • Ability to develop system documents, process standards, and high-level reporting.
    • Anticipate future commercial need for design and confidently propose it to the business.
    • Ability to develop technical documents, technical manuals, and drawings.
    • Understanding of military and government project documentation standards.
