What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality electrical engineering design and consultancy services for high voltage substation and power infrastructure projects.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, locally and across Jacobs’ Global Delivery Centres, to deliver innovative and sustainable client solutions.
• Undertake power system studies, protection studies, technical analysis, and detailed design activities.
• Develop and review electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for systems up to 500kV.
• Support the design of primary plant layouts and equipment arrangements, ensuring appropriate clearances, operability, maintainability, and safety requirements are met.
• Perform equipment and conductor rating calculations and associated engineering assessments.
• Develop protection, metering and control schemes, including protection panel layouts and control room arrangements.
• Manage and deliver lighting design studies and technical reports.
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, technical workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters using tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and advanced Excel applications.
• Contribute to the growth of the team by mentoring and supporting graduate and intern engineers.

Here’s what you’ll need

We’re interested in speaking with electrical engineers who have experience in high voltage projects and are looking to further develop their substation technical design and project delivery capabilities.

You may bring

• Solid experience in electrical engineering, ideally within power infrastructure, utilities, energy, or related sectors.
• Exposure to primary and/or secondary electrical systems, protection systems, substations or power system studies.
• Knowledge of Australian standards and engineering best practices.
• Positive stakeholder and communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from experienced engineers and technical leaders.
• Interest in supporting Australia’s energy transition and sustainable infrastructure future.
