JOB SUMMARY
Requirements
- Significant experience of 5+ years in frontend web development using React and TypeScript, including testing.
- Proven expertise in video players and advertising technology within a streaming environment.
- Direct experience implementing video-on-demand and live streaming technology, specifically ad insertion and stream stability.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS.
- Experience with Figma and a pixel-perfect implementation mindset.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
- A proven track record of building successful design systems and complex user interfaces spanning multiple platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop frontend solutions for the video player, focusing on stable, high-performance video-on-demand and live-streaming experiences.
- Implement player advertising-technology integrations with third-party advertising-technology vendors while optimizing cost per mille and user engagement.
- Build frontend interfaces that enable creators to manage their streams and engagement directly.
- Optimize playback experiences for low latency, high quality, distinctive features, and stability under load.
- Hand over solutions and requirements to frontend teams for Android, iOS, and Roku to ensure a cohesive playback experience across devices and consistent implementation of API backends.
- Own the feature lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment in a you-build-it, you-run-it operating model.
- Triage, investigate, and independently resolve issues in collaboration with operations teams and creators.
- Use metrics and quantifiable data to guide architectural decisions, drive optimizations, and establish release readiness.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Drive improvements and constructive changes to enhance team performance and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor mid-level engineers on the team.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with modern frontend workflows, including component-driven development such as Radix UI, and visual regression testing integrated with code review and pull-request approval processes.
- Knowledge of the render lifecycle and reconciliation, memoization strategies including useMemo, useCallback, and React.memo, and concurrent rendering and scheduling concepts.
- Experience with Go (Golang) on the backend.
- Experience building or optimizing video experiences for Android, iOS, or HTML-based connected-TV platforms such as Roku.
- Experience with Turborepo or monorepo workflows, isolated component development, and visual regression workflows.
- Experience debugging production applications at scale.
- Proven experience leading feature development end-to-end using a metric-driven approach that delivers measurable product improvement and impact.
- A strong architectural ownership mindset and comfort challenging technical decisions constructively.
