JOB DETAILS
A DAY IN THE LIFE
The week shifts depending on where each project sits in the delivery cycle.
- Technical Engineering: Managing RFI responses, developing and reviewing project specifications, coordinating design responses for construction issues and keeping IFC designs current to the applicable standards. You are the technical point of contact for contractors and the person engineering and System Operations teams engage with on technical matters from the field.
- Secondary Systems and Commissioning Coordination: Coordinating the protection and control upgrades at the 330kV sites and the secondary system changes at their remote ends. For Barigan Creek, managing the engineering interface through the 500kV switching station commissioning program working with the Transgrid commissioning team on sequencing, outage coordination and technical readiness.
- Design and As-Built Management: Keeping IFC designs current across the portfolio and managing the work-as-executed and as-built drawing processes so the technical record of each project is complete through to handover and asset acceptance.
- Independent Project Delivery: On directly assigned projects, you set up the project plan, hold the budget and schedule, coordinate procurement and stakeholders and report directly to the Project Manager. You are accountable for the outcome.
- Reporting and Earned Value: Weekly and monthly project status reports and earned value assessments as directed by the Project Governance and Assurance Team. You flag cost and schedule issues early, not when they have already become a problem.
- Stakeholder Coordination:Maintaining effective working relationships with internal teams and external consultants across planning, development and execution. You communicate clearly and follow through on what you say you will do.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
The engineering that goes into these projects the RFI responses that resolve construction problems correctly, the IFC management that keeps design and construction aligned, the commissioning coordination that makes Barigan Creek safe to energise determines whether the assets that go into service are fit for purpose and whether the network can rely on them. That is what this role is responsible for.
