JOBÂ SUMMARY
Requirements
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline
- 7 years’ experience in software development and/or modernisation
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles, standards, and best practices
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or JavaScript
- Exposure to full-stack development, including GUI, APIs, databases and containerisation (e.g. Docker)
- Knowledge of software testing, QA, and validation processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex and evolving requirements
- Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement and maintain software for scientific and engineering applications
- Define system and software requirements and translate customer needs into technical solutions
- Work within Agile environments using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git/Bitbucket
- Contribute across full-stack development (GUI, backend services, databases, APIs, containerisation)
- Identify technical challenges and deliver effective solutions in evolving and ambiguous environments
- Collaborate with engineering, SME and project teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Ensure compliance with Defence standards, policies, and quality frameworks
- Conduct testing, validation and defect resolution activities
- Develop and maintain documentation, including software baselines and technical artefacts
- Continuously improve system performance, maintainability, and scalability
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Defence and/or Electronic Warfare environments (highly regarded)
