JOB SUMMARY
Requirements
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with Node.js and TypeScript
- Experience with NestJS
- Experience with .NET Core or .NET Framework
- Experience with React and Next.js
- Experience building APIs, microservices and distributed applications
- Experience designing scalable, high-performance backend systems
- Cloud-native engineering experience
- Experience with AWS including EKS, ECS, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3 and CloudWatch
- Kubernetes and containerised applications
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
- CI/CD and modern software delivery practices
- Building observable, resilient production systems
- Designing data pipelines and event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka / AWS MSK, AWS Glue, Apache Flink, and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Ensuring data integrity, lineage, and auditability for payment flows subject to regulatory oversight (AUSTRAC, APRA, SWIFT)
- Defining data contracts between service domains and guiding teams in adopting schema registries and Avro/Protobuf standards
- Partnering with analytics and reporting teams to enable real-time operational dashboards and compliance KRIs
- Designing and operating modern software platforms including event-driven architectures, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, microservices and distributed systems, API-first design, scalability, resilience and performance optimisation
- Exposure to modern AI engineering including LLMs, AWS Bedrock, AI agents and agentic workflows, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Prompt engineering, AI-enabled software development and developer productivity tooling
- Leading technical direction across multiple teams or initiatives
- Architecture and solution design
- Coaching and mentoring engineers
- Driving engineering standards, quality and best practices
- Taking ownership of software across its full lifecycle with a DevSecOps mindset
- Collaborating effectively across engineering, product and architecture teams
- Building high-availability, mission-critical platforms
- Developing software in regulated or security-sensitive environments
- Modernising legacy applications and platforms
- Working with cloud-native and distributed architectures
- Delivering enterprise-scale software used by millions of customers
