Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex distributed systems in production.
- Deep production experience with cloud-native Amazon Web Services environments, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS/Fargate, and Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or Terraform.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD automation pipelines, applying DevSecOps practices, and implementing the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Strong system design experience, including caching strategies, database optimization, web performance tuning, and distributed debugging.
- Ability to evaluate, architect, and safely implement generative artificial intelligence workflows such as retrieval-augmented generation and orchestration via AWS Bedrock, with attention to cost control and data security.
- Advanced programming skills in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Comfort working in iterative Agile engineering environments using Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Own core services within the Discovery team and ensure conversational search and content intelligence pipelines are scalable, highly available, and structurally sound.
- Design and implement resilient, decoupled distributed systems using event-driven architectures, clean API boundaries, and robust fault tolerance.
- Embed DevSecOps practices, including automated security scanning, vulnerability management, and strict identity and access management principles.
- Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines through automated testing, reliable blue-green or canary deployment strategies, and reproducible infrastructure.
- Monitor and optimize Amazon Web Services infrastructure spending across compute, storage, search indexes, and large language model usage.
- Contribute to generative artificial intelligence and retrieval-augmented generation architectures, including the safe and cost-effective integration of AWS Bedrock.
- Partner with the Tech Lead and Engineering Manager to deliver product capabilities, maintain architectural health, and reduce technical debt.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and designers to deconstruct technical requirements, define system boundaries, write user stories, and provide estimates.
- Write clean, resilient backend services using Node.js and TypeScript on Amazon Web Services.
- Provide technical mentorship, participate in architectural discussions, and conduct code reviews for peers.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise search engines such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
- Experience with data engineering pipelines.
- Experience building and deploying production-grade large language model or artificial-intelligence-based services, especially using AWS Bedrock.
- Literacy in React, JavaScript, and CSS for frontend integrations.
- Experience with cloud observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or AWS CloudWatch.
