Requirements
- Extensive life insurance claims management experience across either Group or Retail (Retail is desirable).
- Strong technical expertise across complex third-party disability (TPD) claims.
- Strong understanding of insurance legislation and frameworks (for example the Insurance Contracts Act).
- Background in law or allied health (for example occupational therapy) is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills, resilience, and confidence managing complex and sensitive claims.
- Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio (35-45) of complex, underwritten, and high-value TPD claims with accuracy, efficiency, resilience and empathy.
- Apply strong knowledge of the Insurance Contracts Act and navigate additional cover complexities.
- Collaborate with technical experts and business partners to support sound, high-quality decision-making.
- Contribute to embedding best practice and shaping the success of a newly established specialist team.
- Engage confidently with claimants, legal, trustees, and internal stakeholders, ensuring a professional and empathetic approach to complex cases.
