What You’ll Do
At the moment, as a Payroll Compliance Consultant you will be focused on:
- Monitoring, researching, and analysing payroll legislation, tax law, superannuation regulations, and industrial instruments.
- Leading end-to-end legislative impact assessments and developing mitigation plans.
- Providing clear, actionable compliance guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Triaging compliance requests, prioritising them against product roadmap requirements, and lodging business cases for resourcing.
- Collaborating with Product Managers and Analysts to translate legislative requirements into functional specifications.
- Reviewing UX designs and workflows to ensure they meet legislative requirements.
- Participating in sprint reviews and product demonstrations to validate compliance outcomes.
- Developing and maintaining compliance documentation, including release notes and compliance matrices.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on payroll compliance and contributing to industry consultations and regulatory submissions.

What You’ll Bring
Required experience:
- 4–6+ years of payroll compliance or operations experience, ideally within a software vendor, fintech, or technology company.
- Proven ability to interpret and implement complex payroll legislation in New Zealand and/or Australia.
- Experience collaborating with product or technology teams to translate legislative requirements into system functionality.
- Background working with Agile development teams and methodologies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting payroll compliance across both Australia and New Zealand.
- Recognised payroll certification from an approved body (e.g., TAPS or NZPPA).
- BAS Agent registration (required for Australia-based candidates undertaking BAS-related work).
- Familiarity with tools such as GitHub, ADO, Confluence or similar platforms.
- Experience contributing to regulator working groups or industry submissions.
